Waste in the home becomes cut in half by taking small steps to prepare smaller meals, turning off unneeded lights, fixing that leaking water pipe, or even turning down the thermostat. When the waste (trash) and energy consumption becomes reduced, it affects the environment.
The environment provides all resources to create all products on the market, even Eco-friendly products. The right combinations of this and that create what is available on the shelves. When we reuse products, that reduces the environmental impacts. The reserve of resources increases, thus reducing waste.
Believe it or not, the final of the 3R's is a culmination of the other two small green steps. Reducing waste and energy consumption, plus reusing products has an immense impact on the environment; however, when in doubt do not pitch it out, but recycle.
Having yard sales or donating is a terrific way to recycle. The added benefit is earning a few extra dollars or even obtaining a tax credit. Recycling centers have been springing to life in local areas to make recycling unwanted trash or products easier. Businesses have launched recycling campaigns to help with the disposal of cellular phones, computers, or computer batteries. All of the centers exist because products have manufacturing requirements. There is always a catch in creating newer products that could not only affect us, but have an impact on the environment.
Finally, these three small green steps should never be forgotten when reducing the environmental impact. Impacts are rarely felt, smelled, or visible at first, but that does not mean the 3R's are not relevant.
